fieldtrip project

Name of artist: Martina Lopez
Title of Work:Bearing in Mind I
1)What is the backround?
-The backround includes a beach, with some bodies of water. On the beach is some plant growth and to the left is a far away group of swimmer. The sky is dark and there are seagulls to the right.
2)What are the image elements?
-The main image is a woman, most likely a mother, with a look of serenity on her face, holding, and almost protecting a small child. Her clothes and hair are simple but elegant, including the simple silver ring she wears on her finger. She stands in front of a garden gate, draped with leaves.
3)What is the work about?
-I think it is about the mother-child relationship. The mother holds the baby so dearly and lovingly, protecting it from harm. Her face is calm, but strong and brave. The serenity makes you want to run to her arms, knowing you will be safe.
4)How do the title and theme relate?
-I think they both reflect on relationships and what we will do for those people we hold in our hearts.

Final project;Family Affairs:Genealogy in the 21st Century

I have concluded that my final project topic should be the ongoing conflict of religion at Chautaqua Institution. This conflict was an especially important issue this past season, concerning musical artists and other such things. I disagree with such ruckus, all religions should be welcome at Chautauqua, especially the religion it was founded on, christianity. How I am going to get up to Chautauqua to get these pictures is a mystery to me, but let me know what you guys think!
