Warhol Self-Portraits:Part 1

1)"Self Portrait", 1986, Silkscreen ink on synthetic polymer paint on canvas, 106 x 106 inches,1963/1964, Silkscreen ink and synthetic polymer paint on linen 47 x 39.4 cm,"> http://www.telegraph.co.uk/core/Slideshow/slideshowContentFrameFrag.jhtml?xml=/arts

2)These two portraits share a media of Silkscreen ink and synthetic polymer paint. Visually they share the same general idea, changing of color with a black contrast, however Warhol himself looks completely different in each picture. I believe through all his self portraits he was trying to present the idea of moods. In these two portraits he looks totally and completely different. One is cool and calm the other is crazy and unpredictable. The main difference is what each picture represents. However, the material each is done on is also different.

3)I think that these portraits are simply about the moods and expressions of Warhol. Isn't that what art is, expression? We all have different moods and phases in our lives, and sometimes we need to reflect on that. Art is a great way to do that, just stand back and look at the whole picture. Warhol brings across an image, to me at least, of this mysterious genious artist. But honestly, maybe he is just like everyone else, but can express his inner most thoughts in a different way. Either way, he gets some credit from me, expressing yourself isn't easy, and his art is amazing.

Project 1

In this picture the backround is the roof of the Southwestern High School, in the upper left corner you see windows, in the lower right corner you see ground zero in New York City and just off from the center is a coffee cup with liquidified clouds pouring out of it. The cup and clouds represent dreams, how they can be held so tight, fearing that they will be ruined, sometimes even to tightly, that we even throw them away ourselves. Ground Zero represents how low we can feel when are dreams are crushed and ruined and the tall windows represent how large the world can feel, standing over us. The roof tops reflects how "on-the-edge" we can feel at times. How the pressures of high school can change our lives and our futures.
